When Will I See Results from Kybella®?

How Does Kybella® Remove a Double Chin?

FDA-approved Kybella® works using a compound called deoxycholic acid. This compound occurs naturally in your body and helps you digest fat. When injected into your double chin, it damages your fat cells without affecting the skin or other tissues. Your lymphatic system recognizes the damaged cells and filters them out of your body. Most people need a series of treatments to achieve their desired results but can enjoy long-lasting benefits. 

When Will I See Results From Kybella®?

Most people need between two and six treatments to see their full Kybella® results. These are spaced several weeks apart. You may start to see results after your first few sessions. However, non-surgical fat removal takes time. You will see maximum benefits two to three months after your last treatment as your body clears away the last of the treated fat. 

Once developed, your Kybella® results can last a lifetime, especially if you maintain a stable weight. Fat cells do not regrow, so your double chin will not come back unless you have a significant weight change. These long-lasting results make Kybella® an excellent choice for submental fat removal if you do not want the recovery time of a surgical procedure. 

Is There Any Downtime After Kybella®?

After your Kybella® injections, you may notice redness, sensitivity, and swelling. Redness will fade within a day or two. Swelling is worst during the first week but may take two to three weeks to fade completely. You can reduce the amount of swelling by avoiding strenuous activities for 48 hours and using ice packs. You can return to most of your activities immediately with no downtime. 

Am I a Good Candidate for Kybella®?

Kybella® is FDA-approved for healthy adults who want to get rid of a double chin. Good candidates have reasonable expectations and understand that several treatments are required. People with certain medical conditions should not have Kybella®. You should not have this treatment if you are pregnant or have an infection or skin condition in the treatment area. Only a consultation can determine whether you are a good candidate for Kybella® or a different body contouring treatment.
