What to Expect After Laser Tattoo Removal?

No matter how much you loved your tattoo when you got it, you may not love it forever. Fortunately, you can eliminate this unwelcome ink more gently and effectively than ever with our advanced technology at Rejuve Med Spa. Laser tattoo removal fades even brightly colored tattoos, so you never have to see them again, and you can even use the spot for a new piece of art.

How Does Laser Tattoo Removal Work?

Have you ever wondered what keeps tattoo ink inside your skin? The answer is that these ink particles are too big for your body to remove. Your lymphatic system, which normally filters away this type of debris, leaves them in place. At Rejuve Med Spa, we use the Quanta Q-Plus C laser, which uses three different laser wavelengths to heat and break apart ink particles, allowing your body to remove them.

What to Expect After Laser Tattoo Removal

After your treatment, your skin will usually look red and feel sensitive. Over the next few days, you may notice flaking, swelling, and crusting. Avoid touching your skin during this time, and do not wear clothes that rub the area. We will recommend a cleanser and other products to use during healing.

Most people see their skin return to normal after a few days. However, it will still be very sensitive to UV damage, so wear sunscreen and avoid excessive sun exposure. The color, size, and depth of your tattoo may affect how long it takes your skin to heal completely.

How Many Laser Tattoo Removal Sessions Will I Need?

Several factors affect the number of sessions needed to remove a tattoo. Using the Quanta Q-Plus C laser allows us to overcome the limitations of older equipment and treat more colors in less time. The number of treatments you need is affected by:

  • The size of your tattoo
  • The ink colors used in your tattoo
  • Whether your tattoo was performed by a professional
  • How long you have had your tattoo

These factors can affect how much ink is in your skin, which wavelengths of laser energy will treat your ink colors most effectively, and how close your tattoo is to your skin’s surface. Small, amateur tattoos (which are closer to the surface) may take less than five sessions, while a heavily inked professional piece can take up to fifteen sessions for complete removal.

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Tattoo Removal?

If you are a healthy adult with an unwanted tattoo, you can most likely benefit from this procedure. Good candidates for laser tattoo removal have reasonable expectations and do not have any medical conditions that would affect the procedure. You should not have treatment if you have an infection or active skin condition in the treatment area.

Pheby was great. She was welcoming, gentle and explained different services to me.
