How Often Should You Get Botox®?
Signs of aging, such as wrinkles, sagging brows, and neck lines, can make you look older than you are and impact your self-confidence. If you find topical creams ineffective and want a non-invasive solution to rejuvenate your skin, Botox® may be the solution.
How Does Botox® Work?
Botox® is an FDA-approved injectable that can smooth fine lines and wrinkles to help you achieve a more youthful complexion. When a knowledgeable practitioner injects Botox® into a treatment area, it will temporarily block the nerves from sending signals to the muscles, keeping them from contracting. After the muscles can relax for some time, your wrinkles will begin to fade, and new wrinkles and fine lines will not be able to develop.
This process also applies when placed in the underarm area to combat excessive sweating, known as hyperhidrosis. The Botox® will block the nerves from sending signals to the sweat glands, which will make them temporarily inactive, providing you with relief from severe sweating.
How Often Should You Get Botox®?
The results of Botox® can last around three to four months, and some patients may even see results that last up to five to six months. The longevity of your results can be affected by how your body responds to Botox® and how often you receive treatment. Frequent treatments of Botox® can help prolong your results, so we recommend having maintenance treatments every three to four months.
What Can Botox® Treat?
Botox® is an excellent treatment for skin rejuvenation because patients can use it to treat a variety of cosmetic concerns. Botox® is most commonly used to treat signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles, but it can also treat other skin troubles. Other cosmetic concerns Botox® can treat include:
- Lines around the mouth and nose
- A “gummy smile”
- Chin dimples
- Necklines
- Sagging brows
- Excessive underarm sweating

Is There Any Downtime With Botox®?
Botox® requires no downtime, so you are free to return to your routine after your appointment. After Botox®, you may experience some swelling or sensitivity in the treatment area. You should avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area for at least 24 hours. Refrain from exercising, bending over, or lying down while the Botox® is settling into place. Should any questions arise after treatment, be sure to reach out to our Rejuve Med-Spa staff.
Am I a Candidate for Botox®?
If you struggle with fine lines, wrinkles, sagging brows, or excessive sweating, you may be a good candidate for Botox®. Candidates should have realistic expectations of what Botox® can do for them. Individuals with certain muscle or nerve conditions may not be good candidates. We do not recommend Botox® if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
