How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?
Time, sun damage, and other environmental exposures can leave your skin looking rough and uneven. Laser skin resurfacing treats issues such as wrinkles, acne scars, and skin laxity to restore your smooth, youthful appearance. This treatment offers an effective, long-lasting solution to textural problems and signs of aging.
What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?
Laser skin resurfacing is a form of treatment that uses laser energy to trigger skin rejuvenation. At Rejuve Med Spa, we use Pixel skin resurfacing. This fractional CO2 laser provides more results with less downtime than other lasers, helping you achieve your desired results more quickly. Along with being one of the most effective ways to improve skin texture, it also improves uneven pigmentation and sun damage for a radiant glow.

How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?
Pixel is a fractional laser, which means it does not treat the entire surface of the skin. Instead, it creates tiny channels in the skin. The precisely controlled depth minimizes your downtime. These microchannels signal the surrounding cells to respond with healing and growth factors that immediately begin replacing old, damaged cells with vibrant new ones.
Cells called fibroblasts, found in the deep dermal layers of the skin, respond to this treatment by increasing their collagen production. This new collagen boosts your skin’s support structure, providing lift and firmness while tightening lines and wrinkles. This combination of effects leads to a smoother, brighter surface.
Is There Any Downtime With Laser Skin Resurfacing?
Immediately after treatment, you may experience minor swelling and redness that lasts a few days. You can also expect some peeling that may last up to a week. Resist the urge to touch or pick at peeling skin. Your skin will be very sun-sensitive, so avoid exposure and wear sunscreen. We can recommend products to speed healing and boost your results.

How Many Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatments Will I Need?
The number of laser skin resurfacing treatments you need will depend on several factors, including the type and severity of your skin concerns. Most people benefit from three to five treatments spaced three to four weeks apart.
The results of your Pixel treatments can last for several years. You can have maintenance treatments as needed to keep your results lasting as long as you want. Consistent sun protection and medical-grade skincare products can also keep your skin healthy and protect it from future damage.
Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Skin Resurfacing?
Pixel treatments are an excellent skin resurfacing option for most healthy adults. Good candidates have reasonable expectations and want to address a range of textural issues. Candidates should not have an active skin condition or infection in the treatment area. You should not have this treatment if you have certain medical conditions.
