CoolSculpting® vs. Kybella®: How Should I Reduce My Double Chin?

How Does Coolsculpting® Work?
CoolSculpting® freezes the fat cells in targeted areas of the body. One of our trained experts places the handheld applicator, which resembles a vacuum nozzle, and a gel pad over the targeted fat. You will feel cold until the numbness sets in.
The fat cells cannot handle the freezing temperatures, resulting in their destruction. The dead cells are filtered out through the lymphatic system, leaving the surrounding tissue unharmed.
Ideal candidates for CoolSculpting® are within 30 pounds of their ideal weight and have good overall health. If you maintain a healthy lifestyle, the fat cells will not return.
Only 1 to 3 treatments are typically required. There is no downtime needed nor any adverse side effects. You will see results beginning around three weeks after the treatment. The final results appear around the four to six-month mark.
How Does Kybella® Work?
Kybella® has become one of the most popular treatments for double chins. Made of deoxycholic acid, Kybella® uses a synthetic version of the natural acid in your digestive system used to break down fat cells. It is the only FDA-approved injectable to remove fat cells in the submental area (below the chin).
Small injections are made in the target area, and the acid gradually kills the fat cells, which the body metabolizes. This prevents the site from storing fat.
Ideal candidates for Kybella® are close to their ideal weight, but most people are good candidates for this treatment. If you have an infection in the target area, you may need to wait for this to resolve before getting the treatment.
Only 2-6 treatments are typically required. No downtime is necessary, but there may be temporary swelling for 2 to 3 weeks following the procedure. You will begin seeing results after 2 to 4 treatments. The final results appear around 4 to 6 weeks following the last treatment. If you maintain a healthy lifestyle, the results are permanent, and you will not need to repeat the treatment.
