How Does Laser Tattoo Removal Work?
Tattoo ink is placed deep into the dermis to make the tattoo last. The body cannot remove the ink particles due to their size. When the laser sends out a pulse of energy, it passes through the skin to strike the ink particles. The laser energy shatters the pigments into tiny pieces. Your body can filter away these fragments, removing the tattoo’s color and causing it to fade.
Can Laser Tattoo Removal Get Rid of My Tattoo Completely?
Several factors affect whether your tattoo can be completely removed. Older lasers easily remove blue or black ink but have difficulty with bright pigments. The Q-Plus C laser uses two different wavelengths to target every pigment color. As a result, this laser clears your tattoo more quickly and completely.
Most tattoos can be removed completely. However, some people are happy with less than complete removal. Laser tattoo removal can be a long process, and you may not want to undergo more treatments to get rid of the last shadowy traces. Each tattoo is unique, but almost any tattoo can be erased with enough treatment sessions.

How Many Laser Tattoo Removal Sessions Will I Need?
The number of treatments needed to get rid of your tattoo varies widely. Professional tattoos can take anywhere from five to fifteen sessions to remove. Amateur tattoos are usually much shallower and require fewer treatments. Other factors affecting the number of treatments include:
- The size of your tattoo
- The colors used
- The intensity of the colors
- The quality of your tattoo
Large, intensely pigmented tattoos will usually take longer to remove, while small ones in black or blue shades will fade more quickly.
Is There Any Downtime After Laser Tattoo Removal?
You can return to your usual activities after your laser tattoo removal treatment. You will usually experience some sensitivity, redness, and swelling that last a few days. The treated area may feel sore for up to a week. Laser treatments make your skin extremely sensitive to the sun, so avoid exposure between sessions.
Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Tattoo Removal?
Only a consultation can determine whether you are a good candidate for tattoo removal. Almost any tattoo can be removed. However, you should not have laser tattoo removal if you have a skin condition or infection around the tattoo. This treatment is not recommended for people with immunosuppression or recent chemotherapy.
