How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
The reason hair keeps growing back after removal is that methods like waxing remove the hair but leave the follicle itself unaffected. This follicle is free to start growing another hair. Laser hair removal stops hair growth by targeting the melanin pigment inside your hair roots. This pigment absorbs the laser energy, creating heat that deactivates the follicle containing it.

Does Laser Hair Removal Treat All Skin and Hair Colors?
Because laser hair removal targets melanin, which forms the color in your hair and skin, older and less precise hair removal lasers could cause too much heat on dark skin. However, at Rejuve, we use the Soprano ICE™ laser with its sapphire cooling tip. As a result, our hair removal experts can treat any skin tone safely.
While the Soprano ICE™ can treat most hair colors, it needs some amount of melanin to target. Individuals with very pale blond or red hair have very little melanin in their hair roots, so this treatment may not be as effective for them. White hair has lost its melanin and will no longer respond to treatment.
How Many Laser Hair Removal Treatments Will I Need?
Each hair follicle produces hair in a cycle of rest and activity. During your treatment, only a percentage of your follicles will contain a growing hair root, so only these can be treated. By the next session, new follicles will have become active. Most people need five to seven sessions for their best results. However, this number will differ depending on your hair color, thickness, and other factors. How Long Does Laser Hair Removal Last?
While treated follicles stay dormant for a long time, you will eventually start to notice the regrowth of stray hairs. This can vary from a few months to a few years. Most people will benefit from a yearly maintenance session to address these regrown hairs, which are usually finer and lighter than they were before treatment. With this occasional maintenance, you can stop thinking about stubble, ingrown hairs, and razor burns for good.
Is There Any Downtime After Laser Hair Removal?
The Soprano ICE™ laser is pain-free and allows you to return to your daily activities immediately after treatment. While there is no downtime, we recommend waiting 24 hours to resume your exercise routine. You may notice some minor redness and sensitivity that usually fade within 30 minutes.
