Does Laser Hair Removal Hurt?
When the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders want smooth, hair-free skin that always looks good, they visit Rejuve Med-Spa. We use the most advanced laser hair removal system to give you long-term smoothness without discomfort, making it easier and more convenient than ever to eliminate hair in all your problem areas.
How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
During laser hair removal, a laser targets melanin, the pigment in your hair that gives it color. We use the Alma Soprano ICE™, which combines multiple wavelengths to treat more hair and skin colors while maintaining your skin at a cool, comfortable temperature. The laser heats the melanin pigment inside your hair roots, deactivating your hair follicles and stopping hair growth. Unlike shaving or waxing, the results are long-lasting and low maintenance.

Does Laser Hair Removal Hurt?
Some types of laser hair removal can make your skin feel unpleasantly hot, but the ICE™ system maintains a comfortable temperature throughout the entire treatment. People are often surprised by the lack of discomfort with the cooling sapphire tip keeping your skin within a temperature range that most people describe as mildly warm. Our laser experts also use the technique of keeping the handpiece in motion so no area ever feels too much heat.
How Many Laser Hair Removal Treatments Will I Need?
The number of laser hair removal treatments needed depends on several factors, including the area being treated and your natural hair growth cycles. Multiple sessions are needed because, during any session, some hair follicles are resting and will not respond to treatment. With each treatment, more follicles will be active and ready to be deactivated. On average, most people need five to seven sessions to achieve their desired results, followed by maintenance treatments once a year.

Do I Need to Prepare for Laser Hair Removal?
Preparation for laser hair removal is important to achieving good results. Because the laser targets melanin in hair roots, treatment can only work if a pigmented hair root is present. To achieve your best results, follow these tips:
- Do not wax or use any other method that removes the hair root (you can still shave)
- Stop bleaching hairs at least four weeks before treatment
- Avoid sun exposure and artificial tanners before and between treatments
Your Rejuve laser expert will provide you with other instructions to ensure your session is comfortable and effective. These may include stopping the use of certain skincare products or medications before your session.
Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?
Unlike many other lasers, the advanced ICE™ system is FDA-cleared for use on all skin tones. Good candidates should have realistic expectations and healthy skin in the treatment area. Treatments can be used almost anywhere on the face or body. You might not be a candidate if you have certain medical or skin conditions.
